How do I set up a POP3 email account?
If you've requested any email accounts and plan to set them up in your favourite email application like Outlook or Outlook Express, here is some information that you will need:
youremail@yourdomain.com
username: as provided by Silver Barrel
pw: as provided by Silver Barrel
Incoming mail server (POP3): mail.yourdomain.com
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): as supplied by your internet service provider (ie: smtp.telus.net , shawmail.gv.shawcable.net )

What DNS changes do I need to make with my domain name registrar?
Certain DNS (Domain Name Server) changes will need to be made to 'point' your domain name to your new Silver Barrel hosting account. As one of the largest domain name registrars, we have chosen to use Go Daddy as our example in showing you these changes. Please note that there are many different domain registrars who will undoubtable have different procedures for making these changes. If you didn't buy your domain name from Go Daddy, please contact your domain registrar for the further details on how to perform these changes.
Below is the information you will need to properly set up the nameservers:
www.yourdomain.com
Nameserver/Host: NS1.yourdomain.com with IP address 72.249.39.234
Nameserver/Host: NS2.yourdomain.com with IP address 72.249.39.234
Once the changes are made with your domain registrar, it may take up to 48 hours for the changes to become effective.
Here are the steps to follow if you purchased your name with GoDaddy:
- Log into your Godaddy account and select 'Manage Domains'
- Click on the domain name that you are setting up
- Click on the links under 'Name Servers' then select the 'Custom Nameservers' tab
- In the Nameserver1 box enter: NS1.yourdomain.com and in the Nameserver2 box enter: NS2.yourdomain.com
- Click 'OK' to exit this section
- Click on 'View/Modify Detail' under the 'Host Summary' box (bottom left of the screen)
- Enter the following information:
Host Name 1: NS1 Host IP 1: 72.249.39.234
Host Name 2: NS2 Host IP 2: 72.249.39.234
- Click 'OK' to exit.

Can I access my email on-line? If so, how do I do this?
Yes, you can definitely access your email over the internet (just like Hotmail). To check your email via the internet from any computer, visit the following link:
http://webmail.yourdomain.com
and enter your username & password for the desired email account.

Can I have my email redirected to another email account(s)?
We would be happy to have any of your new email addresses 'redirected' to one (or several) other email accounts. This is a great feature if you want several people in your organization to recieve the emails from a specific account. For example, info@yourdomain.com could be automatically sent to you and the members your sales team.
